"Breakfast of Champions"
In this striking Impressionist work, Peter Jefferson brings the native Hawaiian ʻIʻiwi to life with bold color and expressive brushwork. Perched gracefully among blooming ʻōhiʻa lehua blossoms, the bright red plumage of the bird contrasts vividly with the lush greens and soft pastels of the surrounding foliage. Jefferson’s fluid strokes and attention to light capture the delicate movement of the ʻIʻiwi in its natural habitat, celebrating both the beauty and fragility of Hawaii’s native wildlife. This piece radiates energy and reverence, blending nature and artistry in a vibrant, emotional portrayal.
