Hawaiian Colorist
Peter Jefferson is an impressionist colorist who uses color and light to evoke drama and emotion. “I strive to capture the diverse beauty of the Hawaiian Islands’ landscapes and wildlife as well as the breathtaking hues and dynamic vistas of the Western States.” His artistic journey began in Boston where he worked as an Engineer and discovered his passion for drawing. At Carnegie-Mellon University, where he received a Masters of Architecture, he gravitated toward watercolor painting and life drawing. He further honed his craft through studies at the De Cordova Museum School, then with master oil Painter Ovanes Berberian. Since 2013, Peter has directed the Kohala PleinAir Group, fostering a vibrant community of artists . His artwork has won numerous accolades including 1st place at the 2022 Hawaii Plein Aire perspectives. His paintings are showcased in eight galleries on the Hawaiian Islands and the Broadmoor Galleries, in Colorado Springs. “Live your life as an Exclamation rather than an Explanation”, by Sir Issac Newton, is a philosophy that guides both his life and art, inspiring works that celebrate the World’s natural beauty, with boldness and vitality.
